Jura 13626 Ena Micro 1 Automatic Coffee Machine Review

First things first: the Jura Ena Micro 1 Automatic Coffee Machine is designed for one thing and one thing only: COFFEE. This machine might be tiny, but it delivers an espresso straight from the bean. Unlike most single cup coffee brewers today, the Ena Micro 1 has the capability to grind fresh beans and then brew the coffee in a few clicks. This eliminates the need for plastic or paper coffee pods.

The machine is also intuitive, fully programmable, and eco-friendly; all the features you might expect from a superautomatic machine.

Designer Look

The Jura Ena looks expensive, as befits its price tag. It’s sleek and elegant with all its clean lines and neat interface. It’s also small at only 12.7″H x 17.5″D x 9″H. It takes very little counter space and can be stored easily.

It might be small, but it offsets its size in weight. This coffee machine is 8.8 kilograms heavy. It’s not exactly the most portable coffee machine; however, keep in mind that it’s superautomatic and grinds coffee beans and brews freshly ground coffee in one click. Thus, its weight is justified.

Everything Fits!

The Ena Micro 1 is a gorgeous machine, and its parts fit well together. There are no unsightly attachments, keeping the looks of the machine sophisticated.

The 37-oz. water reservoir is located at the machine’s rear. It’s easily removable and fitted with a CLEARYL Water Filtration System so you can always have pure fresh filtered water, cup after cup.

Right beside it is the 4.5-oz. bean container with a sealed lid that keeps the beans nice and fresh. The bean container has a clever little sensor to make sure the lid is in place properly before it starts brewing. A conical burr grinder grinds the beans quickly and with very little noise.

It also has a ground coffee container, if you prefer to use pre-ground coffee. Placing a scoop of ground coffee in here bypasses the bean-grinding function automatically.

The spout is adjustable so you can fit a small espresso shot glass up to a 5.5-inch coffee cup.

Easy Touch and Maintenance

The machine’s interface is very simple. The touchscreen interface gives you three different cup size options: small, medium, large; and two strength settings which determines how much coffee beans the machine grinds for your drink.

Besides the size and strength options, the interface also gives you maintenance prompts. For instance, the machine will tell you when you need to add more water to the tank, remove the used ground coffee in the drip tray, and clean the machine to keep it in tip-top shape.

No-Brainer

Using the Ena Micro 1 is really super easy. It takes less than 5 minutes to make an espresso or a regular cup of fresh coffee.

To turn it on, press the Power button. The machine does a self-rinse immediately and automatically to maximize the water flow. It takes only a few seconds before it’s ready to brew. Once the lights on the interface go steady, choose your coffee’s strength (press mild or strong), and press the size you want (ristretto, espresso, or a regular cup).

It literally takes only three buttons and less than 5 minutes!

Pricey but a Good Investment

This machine is, let’s face it, not cheap. Maintenance, although easy, is also not going to be easy on the pockets. However, in the long run, the investment is going to pay off.

Additionally, there is no need to buy K-Cup coffee pods, whose costs can add up in the long run. Plus, you also cut on waste, which is good for the environment.

You also save on energy costs because this machine has an automatic energy-saving mode and can be programmed to switch off automatically.

Sans Milk

One thing the Ena Micro 1 lacks is a milk steamer or frother, unlike other larger espresso machines. So if you’re a fan of lattes or cappuccinos, then you’ll probably feel that the machine lacks something. For a milk-infused drink, you’d have to either use a different steamer or frother.

You have to remember, though, that this machine really was designed to make coffee, which it does magnificently.

Jura 13626: Keeping it True to Coffee

This ultra-compact elegant machine boasts of programmability, crafty features, clever parts that fit perfectly with each other, efficiency, eco-friendliness, and ease of use.

The Jura Ena Micro 1 stays true to its design and function: to make excellent cups of flavorful, aromatic coffee that can rival any coffee house.
